why don't the Flashpoint actors have an accent?

Canadians have accents right? Maybe not heavy ones but its there. On
the show Flashpoint they don't use their accent. Is it because they
want it to appeal to the Americans? Before I looked up the show I
didn't even realise it was canadian.
